Hard To Find Outboard Motor Parts
This past summer, I took the family out on the water when I noticed the outboard motor was starting to sputter and seemed to have some type of a difficulty. I saw periodic spurts of unburned fuel floating away on the surface of the lake. The boat's motor was luckily still functioning, so we stayed out for the remainder of the afternoon, however I knew I was going to need to look into the issue so we wouldn’t get stranded someday later on.
My motorboat has a 1995 Evinrude E100WTLEOC, a four-stroke motor having a carburetor. I figured the fuel/air combination was becoming irregular, therefore I immediately believed carburetor. I’m a bit of a tinkerer, so I removed the carburetor and took it apart, however I couldn’t actually see anything incorrect with any with the parts. I put it back together and hoped for the best the next time we hit the lake.
Regrettably, the issue continued, and even got just a little worse, so I decided that it should be an issue using the fuel pump system. Nicely, when I began looking around the fuel pump, I noticed a small perforation inside the fuel manifold, which would clarify all of the problems. Air was obtaining into the fuel lines leading to the carburetor and unburned fuel was leaking from the manifold. The part clearly needed to be replaced.
Only down the street right here in Tampa is really a small boat repair shop. I thought would be able toI could just go in and acquire the part, or they could no less than order it for me. But they didn’t have any 16-year-old fuel manifolds and their supplier didn’t have them either. No large deal, it is a small shop. I’ll just locate a nationally certified Evinrude outboard motor dealer. So I get out the yellow pages, locate a shop and head more than there to buy the part. Guess what? They don’t have it either, and neither did their suppliers.
I’m just a little miffed when I get home, so I get on the pc and begin looking on the internet, figuring it can’t be that difficult to locate outboard motor parts.
In no time, I found a great site that sells outboard motor parts called Metta Marine. They carry all kinds of new and old outboard motor parts
It was so effortless to pick the year of my engine, then the horsepower of my engine, then the model number of my motor, then the fuel pump category. The web site then brought up a page having a detailed spec drawing with the entire fuel pump system as well as a list of all of the parts included. Speak about easy. I began asking yourself why the dolts in the repair shop and the dealership couldn’t do this themselves.
I just added the fuel manifold to my cart and checked out. Now I know specifically exactly where to go if I require any other parts for my 1995 outboard motor, and I won’t even need to leave my house.
